Facial Acupuncture Renewal

Cosmetic acupuncture or better said “Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture” or “Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Renewal” has been around for centuries. During the Song Dynasty in China (960-1279 AD), the empresses and imperial concubines already used it to stay young, beautiful and healthy and to ensure a long life.

Virginia Doran, Mary Elizabeth Wakefield and dr. Ping Zhang – all worldwide famous acupuncturists from New York – developed Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture in contemporary manner. Each of them created an own style and because of following courses of these facial acupuncturists my treatment has become an eclectic one. I guided Virginia Doran and Mary Elizabeth Wakefield at several workshops in Amsterdam and at the TCM Kongress Rothenburg in Germany so I have had some special education. For the first book from Mary Elizabeth Wakefield “Constitutional Facial Acupunture” – which is published in January 2014 by Elsevier Churchill Livingstone – I have made all protocol and art photos.

The facial acupuncture treatment I give in my practice is based on Chinese Facial Diagnosis (see page Facial Diagnosis) else the treatment of wrinkels is just a superficial thing. Every wrinkle belongs to a specific emotion or organ disturbance.

When you give a facial acupuncture treatment, people often don’t realize that there are underlying problems shown in the face such as under-eye bags, wrinkles (which are the result of expressing our emotions) or acne.  Signs of energy shortages, stress or hormonal disturbances are also present. They will be treated at the same time. In addition, droopy eyelids and cheeks can clearly be improved through “lift techniques (a combination of massage and acupuncture), and wrinkles may become softer and shallower. It is important when treating wrinkles for the patient to be open to transforming their emotions, or else the treatment will only be superficial and will need to be repeated numerous times.

Cosmetic acupuncture improves the blood circulation and moistening of the skin and possibly benefits the collagen production. The aging process is avoided and after a treatment series you will have a “fresher” look and your facial expression is preserved! Good cosmetic acupuncture consists of a combination of ear, body, head and facial acupuncture and emotional transformation! This is a fairly intensive treatment. I use the most expensive Seirin cosmetic acupuncture needles because they are very thin so the treatment as pleasant as possible.

To get good results, you will have to come for twelve treatments. Often one treatment per week is sufficient. From the seventh treatment on, the effect will be “permanent”. This means that can maintain the results for two to five years and most of the time you will look five to ten years younger. It is recommended that after the twelfth treatment that patients undergo additional treatments every one to three months for a reparative treatment and to ensure the best results.

There are some contraindications for cosmetic acupuncture, such as hypertension, migraines, hemophilia, pregnancy etc.
